i love this image from our girls' trip to charleston. we had just finished afternoon tea and were window shopping. although i usually take multiple (multiple!) shots of anything i truly want to capture, this was a singular attempt at a candid of Grace.
while i was pregnant with her, we had actually decided on a different name ~ a beautiful one complete with family history and a sweet nickname. but as i was walking into the hospital, i had a moment of maternal authority (the kind where no one messes with the pregnant woman) and told Ben that her name would be Grace.
she's just turned twelve, but already displays an elegance and maturity far beyond her years. the name has grown in popularity since, but i've not had a moment of regret ~ there is no word that better defines my lovely girl.
grace was in all her steps, heav'n in her eye, in every gesture dignity and love ~john milton
